Familia Mayol “Cuatro Primos” Red Blend - 2017 Uco Valley Mendoza, Argentina
This red blend is composed of Malbec, Syrah, Bonarda and Cabernet Franc. Each variety was harvested separately at it’s optimum maturation. Fermentation took place in small stainless steel vats and then aged in French Oak barrels (30% new oak) for 12 months. The wine was then blended and aged for an additional 6 months in barrels before bottling and only 450 cases were produced. Malbec as the anchor provides velvety and medium sweet tannins. The final result is a wine that surrenders a brooding bouquet exhibiting notes of wood smoke, mineral, Asian spices, incense, graphite and assorted black fruits. In the glass it has a racy personality and complexity with good volume and length.
